The Struggle is Real... The whole point of an interest approach is well, to keep it interesting. This past week was our Interest Approach Lab, and let me tell you, when I say I struggled, I really mean I struggled. Our cohort was challenged to create a 5-10 minute interest approach that we would give to one classes, and since we had so much time, it was to be a hands-on, unique one. For a solid week I over-thought everything and blocked my brain from thinking of anything creative for my interest approach. I tried so hard to think of anything I could relate to a Vet Science "Careers" lesson (since I already had a lesson plan for this created) and it was beyond difficult for me.  It was challenging to think of activities that would be short, have any value to the students and lesson, be hands-on, and get students thinking about careers that can come from taking my Vet Science class. We are approaching week 4 for the fall semester! I repeat, week 4! I cannot believe how fast the semester has been going, but I am so thankful to have spent the weeks in person with my cohort. Over the past few weeks, we have had so much fun (and stress) learning about lesson plans, unit plans, and teaching in front of each other. Recently we got to teach our "First Day of School" lab, and we all learned so much in the process! Here is what I took away from my own personal experience teaching our "First Day of School" lab: Time:   There is absolutely never enough time for everything to be discussed, and while participating in this lab I found that out real quickly (pun intended)! While we only had 10 minutes for this lab, and there will be much more time for a 45 minute class, I have a feeling that the real-deal first day of school will go by just as fast.
